An engaging Bible Study is a great way to deepen your faith during the Lenten Season.

Matthew 6:19-21

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

John Chapter 3: Verses 1-8

Now there was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews. He came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God; for no one can do these signs that you do apart from the presence of God.” Jesus answered him, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can anyone be born after having grown old? Can one enter a second time into the mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Very truly, I tell you, no can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit. What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit.” Do not be astonished that I said to you, you must be born from above. The wind blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So, it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

The Light of the World

“Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

Have you ever thought about how the tiniest of lights can dispel any darkness, but darkness can never extinguish the tiniest of lights?  Light is powerful!  It exposes what may otherwise stay hidden.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.  In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.  The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend (overcome)  it.”  John 1:1-5

Jesus came as the Light into the world. Pure. True.  God does not wish for us to stumble in the dark. That’s why he gave us the Light, Jesus, as our eternal  guide.

Be Present in the Present

“Be Present in the Present” encourages us to make the most of every opportunity God brings into our life.

Being present in the present is a gift we receive from God above, as well as a gift we can give to those around us. Focus. Slow down. Be mindful of our environment. Moments…and people pass through our lives quickly.

In our life journey, though, God gives us the gift of time and the gift of memories.

Who has God placed in front of you to share a  moment with? Is it a family member calling for attention? A friend in need of a listening ear? I needing a listening ear? A neighbor, coworker or even a stranger who needs to know they matter and are worthy of a moment of our time?

“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”  (Matthew 6:27)

“Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15-16)

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17)

Let’s make the most of this gift of the present.
